Young Healthy Heart

Looking good in middle age is really tricky for most of us who just don't have the money or the life we think we need to be fabulous. I was lucky, at least I thought I was, I did have the money I needed to be fabulous in my mind, I also had high cholestorol to go with it. When I lost all the money after being in the habit of enjoying a decadent lifestyle for years, the stress of it all, a large fibroid in my uterus and a family history of high cholesterol; when I look back at events it's not surprising really. I was a heart attack waiting to happen.

These are the 7 simple young healthy heart rules I stick to and live by. These core values you need to understand when it comes to turning back the clock and being the best heart happy you can be.

1. Give up alcohol, coffee and drink water/green tea only.

2. Stop smoking and exercise daily.

3. Eat no more than 2000 calories per day for women, 2500 for men.

4. Give up meat, cream and processed foods. I have been a vegetarian for almost 20 years now and I am now a vegan in progress.

5. Go to bed and get up the same time every day, even Saturday and Sunday.

6. Practise a little yoga every day.

7. Be flexible and kind to yourself. Once you've mastered your self control if you fancy something like a sweet treat, have it.

The more you allow your heart to dictate instead of your head the more you will find you make all the good for choices for you by default.

Venus Cow did not say it would be easy but it is possible to turn back the clock if you follow the program above to look after your heart and make it a lifestyle choice not a diet fad. I will say here I am by no means perfect. And I certainly do not starve or deprive myself. Personal development is dynamic so nothing stays the same forever. Once you have mastered yourself, your addictive behaviour patterns and your denial you can actually have whatever you want when you want. I practise controlled indulgence now.

Your goal is to love your heart and be grateful for it and by confirming this thinking in your meditation you will change your behaviour over time. When we value something we are much more likely to take care of it.

Most of you are probably thinking "No way, what would be the point of living?"

The truth is if you don't make changes in middle age, you are likely to die young anyway, so just change one pattern at a time and watch out for amazing results. If you are unable to make change in your life because you have no will power, recognise everything you do is a choice and you are in charge of your habits. If not, accept you are addicted and need help.

Your heart is the most important organ in your body, it is capable of emitting an electromagnetic field that extends 10 metres outside your physical body, an energy source you cannot see but definitely radiate and many experts and scientists, Carl Jung included have proffered theories around this energy, it's purpose and how it is linked to your psyche, spirit or soul.

If you want to progress on a spiritual journey to happiness learning to fall back in love with your heart and give it everything it needs is vital.
