Recession Depression

It's amazing what you can do with stuff lying around

Having little or no money is a scary place to be. Add global recession in the mix, the feeling of everything going backwards and we start to lose hope. Add fear to this equation with "a pandemic" and there's never been a better time to start working on your mind and the way you think if you don't want to go down so far you may struggle to get back up again. Plan ahead to combat recession depression.

This year, once again, we will spend weeks and weeks, stuck in tradition, either stressed because we are broke or looking forward to something that goes by in the blink of an eye, costs a fortune and leaves us feeling as flat as a pancake like Valentine's Day, Christmas, Lunar New Year, any celebration where there's pressure and you find yourself spending money you haven't got.

Christmas comes but once a year, a time for family, fun, charity and cheer. In Hollywood, where the sun always shines, the way to celebrate usually takes place on a tropical beach or in a stylish ski resort like Aspen where money is no object. Mixing things up and lowering expectations is easier when you see other people doing things differently. Travel is off the agenda again this year 2021, so maybe this is the year to actually plan to do something different, within the restrictions.

"Aspiring to a rich lifestyle (or any lifestyle) when you have no money and last year, 2020 no freedom, will only leave you feeling unhappy."

The best way to beat the recession depression blues when you are under pressure, or looking to spend money you haven't got is to change the way you think. You'll be amazed what you can achieve by simply following this advice.

Stop trying to buy it. Create something amazing from what you already have, a new look, watch a make up tutorial and have a go or clearout your closet and build a new outfit. You'll be surprised at what you can do with what you've got on hand. Get in that garage or shed or have a rummage in the attic or under the stairs.

Shopping and excessive consumerism is wrecking the environment. Recognise it is not what you have but who you are that matters in life and people are way more important than showing off to people with expensive presents, homes, cars, holidays. If you really want to boost your happiness meter make 2021 the year you give alternative gifts, your time to charity this year, modelling great behaviour for any children around you looking on. There is always someone out their much worse off than you that needs your help and ironically this kind of gift will give you much more lasting happiness in return.
